Maa Lydia, a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, received tremendous support as she officially presented her candidacy for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in Ayawaso West Wuogon. The submission took place at the constituency office in Dzorwulu, where Alhaji Seidu Issah Sawadogo, constituency Secretary, received her nomination.
Amidst an enthusiastic atmosphere, Maa Lydia solidified her bid for the NPP primaries in Ayawaso West Wuogon, drawing a diverse crowd of party loyalists, well-wishers, and constituents eager to endorse her candidacy.
Accompanied by notable figures such as Municipal Chief Executive Sandra Ahenkora and the Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser for the NPP, Grace Acheampong, Lydia Alhassan’s submission saw the support of former and current constituency chairpersons, as well as all 11 NPP Area Coordinators and delegates.
Addressing the media and supporters, the incumbent MP expressed confidence in securing the seat for the NPP, acknowledging the constituents’ appreciation for her efforts and their desire for her to continue serving them.
Continuing the legacy of her late husband, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, who previously represented the area, Maa Lydia emphasized her commitment to public service and community development. She highlighted ongoing projects, including the establishment of a new secondary school and healthcare facility, expansion of educational institutions, road development, and infrastructure enhancements.
Facing a rematch against NDC candidate John Setor Dumelo in the 2024 elections, Lydia Alhassan remains determined to retain her position should she emerge victorious in the upcoming NPP primaries scheduled for January 27.
