Leicester City Signs Abdul Fatawu on Five-Year Deal from Sporting CP

Leicester City Football Club has confirmed the permanent signing of talented young winger Abdul Fatawu from Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee.

The Foxes successfully secured full league and international clearance for the transfer after activating the buy option in Fatawu’s contract with Sporting CP.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian international, who shone during his loan spell at King Power Stadium last season, played a crucial role in Leicester City’s triumph in the Sky Bet Championship and their promotion to the Premier League. Fatawu has now committed to a five-year contract with the club.

Last season, Fatawu made 43 appearances across all competitions for Leicester City, netting seven goals, including a memorable first career hat-trick in a 5-0 victory over Southampton at Filbert Way.

His impressive performances quickly endeared him to the Blue Army faithful.

To celebrate Abdul’s signing, Leicester City collaborated with local band and Foxes supporters, The Mercians. The Coalville-based band surprised Fatawu with a special rendition of the Blue Army’s famous Fatawu chant at King Power Stadium.
