Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has called on the youth in Bawku to lay down their arms and commit to peace, offering them priority access to police recruitment as part of efforts to stabilize the troubled region.
During his visit to Bawku on Friday, April 11, IGP Yohuno acknowledged the resilience and commitment of the locals and announced that a special recruitment team would be dispatched to the area specifically to offer opportunities to young people there.
“We’ll prioritize the youth of Bawku when it comes to recruitment,” he assured. “A dedicated team will be sent here for that purpose.”
He also appealed to residents to cooperate with the police by pointing out any shortcomings or mistakes, promising swift corrective action to build mutual trust.
“We value your input. If we’ve made any errors, let us know so we can fix them immediately,” he said. “And if we’ve wronged you unintentionally, we ask for your forgiveness and assure you it won’t happen again.”
