Kylian Mbappe Confirms Departure from PSG, Expected to Join Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has officially announced his departure from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current season. The French forward, whose contract with PSG expires this summer, is widely expected to join Real Madrid.

In a heartfelt video message shared on social media, Mbappe expressed his gratitude to PSG and its supporters, stating, “I wanted to announce to you all that it’s my last year at Paris Saint-Germain. I will not extend, and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks.”

Mbappe hinted at a move to Real Madrid, indicating that he is prepared to leave France for the next step in his career.

He mentioned the difficulty of leaving his country, France, and Ligue 1, a league he has always known, but emphasized his need for a new challenge after seven years.

Real Madrid has long been interested in Mbappe, and the club is reportedly prepared to make him their highest-paid player.

However, negotiations between PSG and Real Madrid are still ongoing, with the two clubs yet to agree on a transfer fee.

Mbappe’s departure from PSG is expected to free up significant funds for the club, with reports suggesting at least €220m (£189m) in gross savings.

PSG had previously rejected a €220m offer from Real Madrid in 2021 and a €300m bid from Al Hilal last summer, both of which Mbappe declined.

The 25-year-old striker, who joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, has enjoyed immense success at the club, winning 11 major honors and becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer with 255 goals.

His final game for PSG will be against Toulouse on Sunday at the Parc des Princes, followed by two away league games before the French Cup final against Lyon on May 25.

Mbappe’s departure marks the end of an era for PSG, which saw the club sign high-profile players like Neymar and Lionel Messi in pursuit of Champions League glory.

Despite the significant investments, PSG has yet to win the prestigious European competition, falling short in this season’s semi-finals against Borussia Dortmund.

The departure of Mbappe is expected to trigger a busy transfer window for PSG, with Napoli forward Victor Osimhen reportedly a target for the club.

PSG’s focus remains on winning the Champions League, but losing Mbappe to Real Madrid will undoubtedly pose a significant challenge for the club in achieving that goal.
