The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced extended operational hours for the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport, effective June 1, 2025.
This strategic move aims to improve accessibility, enhance travel flexibility, and support increased domestic tourism and business activities across the country.
Under the revised schedule, Prempeh I International Airport will now remain open until 11:00 PM, up from its previous 8:00 PM closing time. Tamale International Airport will also extend its hours, closing at 10:00 PM instead of 6:00 PM.
A joint statement from the GCAA and GACL confirmed that a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to inform all airlines of the new operating hours. Domestic carriers have been encouraged to revise their schedules and increase the frequency of flights to and from both airports to reflect the changes.
The public has been urged to take note of the new timings and plan their journeys accordingly to take full advantage of the improved travel window.
These changes are part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s aviation infrastructure and support regional connectivity, especially in key cities like Kumasi and Tamale that serve as gateways to central and northern Ghana.
