Ghana international Mohammed Kudus is facing a race against time to be fit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a fresh injury setback.
The talented forward, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur, had been working his way back to full fitness following a serious quad tendon injury sustained in January during a match against Sunderland.
Kudus was initially expected to return this month, with positive updates suggesting he was close to rejoining the squad. Former interim head coach Igor Tudor had previously indicated that the Ghanaian forward was progressing well and could resume partial training within weeks.
However, those hopes have now been dashed after reports confirmed that Kudus has aggravated the injury and has not trained with the team since the last update.
Although the full extent of the new injury has not been officially disclosed, early indications suggest that Kudus could miss the remainder of the season.
This development raises serious concerns about his availability for Ghana’s World Cup campaign, which is set to begin in less than three months.
The potential absence of Kudus would be a significant setback for the Black Stars, given his importance to the squad.
Before his injury, the 25-year-old had recorded nine goal involvements in 24 appearances across the Premier League and Champions League, highlighting his influence in attack.
With time running out before the global tournament, Ghana’s technical team will be closely monitoring Kudus’ recovery.
His fitness could prove crucial to the Black Stars’ chances, and any prolonged absence may force a reshuffle in the team’s attacking setup ahead of the World Cup.
