The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, Mr Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, has tragically passed away after collapsing during a matriculation speech at the Dambai College of Education. The incident, which occurred on Friday morning, saw Mr Mensah rushed to the Dambai Health Centre before being transferred to the WoraWora Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Hospital authorities have remained silent regarding the circumstances of Mr Mensah’s collapse. However, Mr Kingsley Okuneggy, the Communication Officer for the Krachi East New Patriotic Party, confirmed the incident on the party’s platform.
Mr Mensah, aged 60, was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to succeed the late MCE, Francis Kofi Okesu, who passed away in September 2022. Prior to his appointment, Mr Mensah served as the Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Krachi East Municipality.
In a tragic twist, it has been reported that Mr Mensah’s wife also collapsed upon hearing the news of her husband’s passing and is currently receiving treatment at the same facility in WoraWora.
