A supporter of Asante Kotoko has tragically died following violent clashes after their Ghana Premier League Matchday 19 encounter against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Koramansah Park.

The match, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for Kotoko, was marred by confrontations between players, fans, and officials. The tension began on the pitch when altercations led to the referee issuing four red cards. After the final whistle, violence escalated among rival supporters, culminating in the fatal stabbing of a Kotoko fan.

The injured supporter was rushed to the Sunyani Hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.

In an official statement, Kotoko expressed profound sorrow over the loss and condemned the violence, describing it as a dark day for Ghanaian football. The club revealed that its team faced hostility from sections of the home supporters from the moment they arrived at the stadium.
