Afia was reportedly on her way to repair her laptop when a ‘trotro’ with failed brakes veered off its lane and struck her as she stood on the shoulder of the road.
The university confirmed the incident in an official announcement, sparking widespread grief within the campus community.
Students and faculty have expressed their heartfelt condolences to Afia’s family. The tragedy has also reignited calls for stricter measures to combat reckless driving in the area.
This incident marks yet another loss for KNUST, as over 10 students have died since the start of the year, with three fatalities resulting from road accidents at various locations.
