A final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffour, has been remanded for the second time in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani.
The tragic incident, which occurred on February 27, 2025, shocked the university community. Yabani’s lifeless body was discovered on campus, and CCTV footage allegedly captured a man, believed to be Tuffour, strangling her following an altercation.
Tuffour was arrested just hours after the incident and was initially remanded during his first court appearance. At his second court hearing, the prosecution informed the court that the case docket had been sent to the Attorney General’s office for legal advice. Based on this development, the prosecution requested that Tuffour remain in custody, a request that the court granted.
The case has been adjourned to April 1, 2025, by which time the Attorney General’s advice is expected to be ready.
