The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially identified the female student whose body was discovered on campus in the early hours of February 27, 2025.
The deceased has been named as Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year Biological Sciences student. She was found near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at around 5:00 a.m.
University security personnel responded promptly, transporting her body to the University Health Services, where she was officially pronounced dead.
In a statement, the university management confirmed that her family has been notified and extended their condolences.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The university has reassured the student body and the general public of its commitment to safety and urged all to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information.
Management has also requested respect for the privacy of the bereaved family as investigations continue. Further updates are expected in due course.
