Ghanaian rapper King Paluta has officially lodged a petition with the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Board, demanding an explanation for the exclusion of his hit song “Makoma” from key nomination categories for the 26th edition of the awards.
In a formal letter dated March 18, 2025, King Paluta’s management expressed disappointment after realizing that “Makoma,” which they believe was one of the most popular songs of the year under review, did not make it to any of the categories submitted for consideration. The rapper’s team had filed nominations for “Most Popular Song,” “Record of the Year,” “Hiplife Song of the Year,” and “Songwriter of the Year.”
The petition highlights that the song has been widely embraced by music lovers and questions why it was omitted from the nominations list. King Paluta’s team insists that “Makoma” does not breach any moral or ethical requirements and is hopeful for a reconsideration of their submission.
“We believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts, and the general public on this unpopular decision,” the letter stated.
