Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong has firmly declared his intention to run in the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, asserting that “nobody can stop” him.
His declaration follows his withdrawal from the party’s ongoing “Thank You” tour, citing security threats to his supporters after a stabbing incident during a party event in Bantama, Kumasi. The incident involved a KNUST student from Unity Hall’s Jama group, which was contracted to perform at the event.
Despite the unrest, Agyapong reiterated his political ambition and emphasized his longstanding contributions to the NPP. “We will regroup,” he stated, “and at the right time, I will contest. They should be ready.”
The statement underscores growing internal tensions within the NPP as the party looks ahead to future leadership contests.
