JUST IN: Ghana To Be Removed From EU Money Laundering List; Selected As Manufacturing Hub For COVID-19 Vaccines In Africa

Ghana will soon be removed from the European money laundering list according to latest information available to Ghanaarticles.com.

This news comes after President Nana Akufo-Addo went on a two-working tour in Belgium where he met the European Council.

At the meeting, the European Commission announced it’s decision to remove Ghana from the list of countries that are deficient in Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.

According to the Commission, Ghana implemented the action plan of the International Country Risk Guide (ICRG) in record time.

The Comission congratulated Ghana for the reforms embarked on, as well as the sustainable, rebust systems deployed towards being taken off the list.

Moreover, the Commission has selected Ghana as manufacturing hub for COVID-19 vaccines in Africa at the meeting.

The European Commission carries out risk assessments in order to identify and respond to risks affecting the EU internal market. It promotes the adoption of global solutions to respond to these threats at international level.

The European Union adopted robust legislation to fight against money laundering and terrorist financing which contributes to those international efforts.

The Commission ensures effective application of this legislation by reviewing transposition of EU acquits and working with networks of competent authorities.
