Joseph Osei Owusu Says He is Disappointed in Majority Leader’s Resignation

Joseph Osei-Owusu, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has expressed disappointment over Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s decision to resign from his position. Osei-Owusu described Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as a “fantastic leader” and expressed a wish that he had stayed on until the end of the current Parliament.

“While anybody holding any position could resign, I would have wished that the leader of the Majority side would have stayed on until the end of the current Parliament,” Osei-Owusu stated. He added that Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation came as a surprise to him, emphasizing the Majority Leader’s hardworking nature.

Responding to questions from the press regarding the resignation, Osei-Owusu, who also represents Bekwai as an MP, said, “Kyei’s resignation got to me as a surprise.” He suggested that the reasons behind Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s decision should be explained by the former Majority Leader himself.¹
