Parliament was thrown into disarray on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, after a confrontation broke out over attempts by the Minority to address the ongoing strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
Dr. Ayew Afriyie, the Ranking Member on the Health Committee, insisted on making a statement about the strike despite objections from First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor, who declined to admit the statement.
The situation escalated when the Speaker instructed the Marshal to escort Dr. Afriyie out of the chamber, prompting a strong reaction from Minority MPs. The resulting uproar led to heated exchanges across the floor.
Due to the chaotic scenes, the Speaker was compelled to suspend the sitting and adjourn proceedings to Wednesday.
