Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew has described the late Christian Atsu as the best player he has ever played alongside, praising his immense talent and contribution to the Black Stars.
Jordan and Atsu were teammates in the national team for nearly a decade, with Jordan making his debut in 2010 and Atsu following in 2012.
Atsu’s peak performance for Ghana came during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he helped the Black Stars reach the final. He was named Player of the Tournament and won the Goal of the Tournament award.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Jordan acknowledged the talent of other Ghanaian greats like Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan, but insisted that Atsu deserved more recognition for his contributions.
“To be honest, I’ll go for Atsu. He deserves a lot of credit for what he has done in his career and for the national team. Playing in that generation with those top players was unbelievable, but I’ll give it to Christian because he was truly a top player.”
