John Dramani Mahama Wishes Ghanaian Workers Happy International Workers’ Day, Shares Plans for 24-Hour Economy

In his 2024 International Workers’ Day message, John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), extended warm regards to hardworking Ghanaians contributing to the nation’s development.

He also acknowledged the crucial role of workers and social partners in ensuring peaceful elections for national development, highlighting the theme for this year’s celebration, “Elections 2024: The Role of Workers and Social Partners in Securing Peaceful Elections for National Development.”

Mahama expressed concern over the challenges facing Ghana due to poor governance, incompetence, economic mismanagement, and institutionalized corruption under the current administration.

He emphasized the need for change, citing his past achievements during his tenure as President, including overcoming an energy crisis, implementing a universal salary structure, and spearheading transformative infrastructural developments.

One of the central elements of Mahama’s vision for Ghana’s recovery is the implementation of a 24-hour economy.

This initiative aims to generate sustainable, decent job opportunities and promote growth and prosperity for everyone.

Mahama believes that adopting a 24-hour economic model will diversify the economy and empower the workforce, enabling more flexible work schedules, enhancing work-life balance, well-being, and productivity.

Mahama called on all Ghanaians to support this transformative vision, which promises to revitalize the job market and foster long-term sustainable development.
