“It’s Either E-Levy Or Govt Cancels Free SHS ” – Kusi Boafo To Ghanaians

The CEO of the Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo has given Ghanaians two options following a public refusal to accept the e-levy tax introduction from the Finance Minister.

The e-levy has become a central topic for discussion in Ghana since the Government through the Ministry of Finance proposed the electronic transaction tax during the last year’s budget for 2022.

Many Ghanaians have expressed their displeasure since the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced the government’s decision to introduce the electronic transaction levy.

Many have taken to social media to chastise the move and have described the policy to loot the average Ghanaian of the little income he makes.

In the latest development to this, Mr Kusi Boafo has asked Ghanaians to choose either e-levy or the government abandons its infrastructure development plan for this year.

According to him, if Ghanaians fail to accept the e-levy then the government will also cancel Free SHS, stop constructing roads, there will be no jobs for students after school and among other things.

He lamented that the Akufo-Addo led government is listening to the government that wants to do great things for Ghanaians but lacks the resources and revenue mobilization is very low.

“Government is facing serious liquidity challenges, revenue mobilization is very low so there is a huge physical deficit. Either e-levy comes on or we abandon the programmes we are pursuing,” he said.
