It’s all level at Wembley! Italy were pushing and probing and they equalized at a messy corner.
Pickford can’t be blamed, as he makes a good save onto the post from Verratti, but Bonucci is on hand to turn in the rebound and to make it 1-1.
A hammer blow for England. All the momentum is with Italy as Pickford can only parry a header against the post.
The rebound drops to Bonucci, who bundles it in from close range, pushing the game to extra time.
Leonardo Bonucci became the oldest player to score in a EURO final (34 years, 71 days).
But it all ended in tears after extra-time and penalty shootout. Italy won the Euro 2020 by 3-2 on penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in full-time.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka all missed their penalties to gift the Italians the European Championship.
Sterling dived again earlier, but it didn’t work as no penalty was awarded in normal playtime.
England couldn’t make the most of that last Pickford save. It’s the 19-year-old Bukayo Saka next, but he is denied by Donnarumma! Italy are Euro 2020 champions!
