Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has addressed claims labeling him as “the worst Sports Minister” in the country’s history. During a session with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture, and Tourism, chaired by Kwabena Mensah Woyome, Ussif firmly rejected the criticism, asking for clarification on what data was being used to make such judgments.
“I disagree with your statement that I am the worst. You should tell me which data you are using to determine that,” Ussif remarked, defending his performance as Sports Minister.
He also took the opportunity to explain the government’s $3 million expenditure on Ghana’s participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire. Ussif detailed that the funds covered essential expenses such as per diems, flights, medical services, logistics, and hospitality during the national team’s 11-day stay.
