In a recent interview, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has revealed his ambitious plan to acquire either Chelsea FC or Manchester United, aiming to showcase African leadership capability in the global sports arena. Expressing his passion for sports, Cheddar emphasized his vision to advance the development of football, particularly in Africa.
Cheddar, known for his business acumen, sees the potential acquisition as a statement beyond politics, intending to demonstrate the strength and power of the Black community. He envisions creating an African Champions League, similar to Europe’s, and strengthening local leagues to facilitate direct player transfers to Europe, eliminating unethical practices.
Highlighting the need to honor and leverage Ghana’s former football icons, such as the late Papa Arko and Opoku Nti, Cheddar emphasized the importance of transforming these legends into influential figures within the football industry. He lamented the lack of seriousness in the country, leading to financial struggles for many former players after retirement.
Cheddar’s ambitions extend beyond football, as he eyes a presidential bid in Ghana’s upcoming 2024 elections. However, he faces significant challenges from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
