I’ll not empower Fulanis to destroy farmlands – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dismissed claims that his presidency would allow Fulani herdsmen to harm farmlands. Speaking in Ejura Sekyedumase on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Dr. Bawumia described these allegations as “propaganda” by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which he says is attempting to spread fear by suggesting that his leadership would enable lawlessness among the Fulbe people, his in-laws.

Dr. Bawumia assured the public that, under his administration, the law would be applied fairly and equally to all citizens. He emphasized that no group, including Fulanis, would be permitted to damage agricultural lands, and that anyone found violating the law would be held accountable.

“The law will deal with each and everybody. So please don’t listen to such propaganda that we will allow the Fulani to destroy your farmlands,” he stated.

He further encouraged the constituents to support his candidacy, promising them developmental benefits and improvements in their communities if given the mandate.
