Ignatius Osei-Fosu Expresses Readiness to Coach Black Stars

Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has expressed interest in becoming the head coach of Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars.

Osei-Fosu, who served under former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, played a key role in helping Sudan secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Sudan advanced alongside Angola from Group F, while Ghana placed third with just three points from six matches, failing to qualify.

Speaking to 3Sports, Osei-Fosu credited his tactical growth to his collaboration with Kwesi Appiah and indicated his readiness for the challenge of leading the Black Stars.

“I think I need to learn more from Kwesi Appiah. But if he says, ‘Ignatius, you’ve been with me for one year now, and the Black Stars are calling you, I think you’re ready,’ I will take the job because tactically, I am capable of handling the Black Stars,” he said.

Despite his confidence, the current head coach, Otto Addo, who could not secure Ghana’s AFCON qualification, is expected to remain in the role.
