“If You Like Try Me Or Any Of My Men , We Will Beat Anyone That Distorts Peace”- Lt. Col. Jacob Codjoe

The Ghana Army has issued a stern warning to individuals planning to disrupt peace during the upcoming December 7 elections.

Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Codjoe, Commander of the Jungle Warfare School in Achiase near Oda, made this declaration during a forum in Oda, stressing the military’s readiness to handle any situation where the police are unable to maintain order.

Addressing the gathering, Lt. Col. Codjoe stated:

“I will only come to the Akyemansa enclave on December 7 when the police tell me they cannot maintain order. And when I come, I will not come empty-handed. I will beat the hell out of you.”

He added a challenge to potential troublemakers:

“I always want people to try me. So, those of you seated here, any of you can try me on that day or try any of my men.”

The officer emphasized the military’s commitment to safeguarding peace and ensuring the elections proceed without violence.

Lt. Col. Codjoe advised voters to maintain order by casting their ballots and promptly returning home:

“When you go to the polling station, just cast your vote and go home. Go and sleep. When it’s 5 p.m., come back, and they will tell you where to stand. They will count the votes for you. If you win, clap and go home.”

He also assured law-abiding citizens of their safety, noting that those who behave responsibly will not encounter any problems.

Highlighting the importance of peace, Lt. Col. Codjoe urged citizens to value Ghana’s stability:

“The only good thing we have as a country now is peace. If we distort it, nothing can go on.”

He emphasized the role of religious leaders, security personnel, and families in preserving the nation’s peace.

As Ghana approaches the elections, tensions between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have heightened amid allegations of electoral misconduct and potential violence.

Lt. Col. Codjoe’s remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some applauding the military’s proactive stance, while others express concerns about the implications of such aggressive rhetoric on election day.
