Spread the love

The Institute of Community Sustainability (ICS) has temporarily suspended its nationwide anti-animal cruelty sensitisation tour following a violent attack on its Executive Director, Eric Jerry Aidoo, popularly known as Chairman Jerry. The incident occurred while Mr. Aidoo was carrying out campaign activities, prompting the organisation to review security protocols to ensure the safety of its team.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, ICS stressed that the tour has not been cancelled. “We have only put our activities on hold,” the statement said, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to protecting animals and promoting humane treatment.

Mr. Aidoo emphasized that intimidation would not deter the campaign, highlighting the role of dogs and cats as loyal companions and contributors to household security.

The ICS plans to resume the tour soon, with engagements scheduled across the Volta, Northern, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions. The organisation is also calling on the public to support its efforts by volunteering and participating in educational activities aimed at reshaping attitudes toward pets.

“Cats and dogs are family, not food. We will not be silenced by intimidation when the lives of these innocent animals are at stake,” Mr. Aidoo said.
