President John Mahama is leading relief efforts for over 600 people displaced by recent tidal waves in the Volta Region. During a visit to the hardest-hit communities, Mahama announced donations to support affected families.
Minister of Roads and Transport, Governs Kwame Agbodza, donated 250 bags of rice to provide immediate food relief. Additionally, Ibrahim Mahama, the President’s younger brother and Managing Director of Engineers & Planners, contributed GHS 100,000 to further aid the victims.
The relief packages, including essential food supplies and financial aid, are a lifeline for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Many residents remain stranded with limited access to necessities.
President Mahama also emphasized the government’s commitment to completing the Blekusu Phase Two Sea Defence Project to prevent future disasters. He has directed the Finance Minister to include funding for the project in the upcoming national budget.
