Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu, the disqualified New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Bimbilla constituency, has announced that he will not run as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.
Zaruk, who was prevented from challenging the incumbent MP and Minister for Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, faced backlash from his supporters following the disqualification. The decision led to unrest in the constituency, with angry constituents, particularly the youth, vandalizing the party’s office in protest.
Despite calls from some supporters to contest as an independent candidate, Zaruk, affectionately known as “Sokam Zaruk,” has chosen not to pursue this path. After consulting with party elders and opinion leaders, he emphasized his commitment to the NPP and expressed full support for the party’s principles.
Zaruk also addressed rumors suggesting that he had been offered money to stay out of the race, categorically denying these allegations. He expressed gratitude to his supporters and the people of Bimbilla for their unwavering support, assuring them of his continued dedication to serving their interests in the future.
