I Wish Alan Kyerematen Will Return to NPP–Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu

In a recent phone interview on Okay FM, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament and Member of Parliament for Suame in the Ashanti Region, expressed his strong desire for Alan Kyerematen to reconsider his resignation. Mensah Bonsu believes that Alan’s return would be advantageous both personally for Alan and for the Elephant party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NPP is still grappling with the shock of Alan Kyerematen’s withdrawal and subsequent resignation. Party members have been voicing their opinions on the matter, with the General Secretary responding to some of the assertions and allegations made by the former Minister of Trades and Industry against the party.

During the interview, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu revealed that after Alan withdrew from the Flagbearer contest, the party’s Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, took inspiration from the “Lost Sheep” parable told by Christ. They attempted to have a pep talk with Alan, hoping to resolve any issues. Therefore, the news of Alan’s official resignation and his intention to run for the presidency under his Movement for Change Party came as a shock to Mensah Bonsu.

Mensah Bonsu emphasized that if Alan decides to remain outside the NPP and run as an independent candidate, he is likely to follow the path of Wereko Brobbey, Dr. Obed Asamoah, and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. These individuals broke away from their respective political parties to form their own parties but did not achieve success.

He urged all party executives to maintain an open and optimistic attitude, hopeful for Alan’s possible return if their discussions with him yield positive results. Mensah Bonsu highlighted that the NPP is determined to make history by retaining power and serving the country for a third consecutive term.

Stressing the importance of unity at this critical juncture, Mensah Bonsu emphasized that the NPP must focus on their primary goal of breaking the eight-year cycle and serving Ghanaians diligently.

As the NPP navigates this period of uncertainty, it remains to be seen whether Alan Kyerematen will reconsider his resignation and rejoin the party. The hopes expressed by Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu reflect the party’s desire for a unified front as they strive to secure another term in office.
