Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has pledged to ensure that nursing trainee allowances are paid regularly and without delay.
Speaking to nursing trainees in the Savannah Region, Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his commitment to the timely disbursement of these allowances, promising they would not fall into arrears again.
“We reinstated the allowances, while others had previously cancelled them. We are committed to working diligently to ensure they are paid on time. I will personally oversee the regularity of these payments to ensure you receive them consistently. We are determined to transform this country.”
In a similar meeting with nurses and midwives in Accra on Tuesday, May 14, the Vice President announced that GH¢177 million would be released today, May 16, to settle the outstanding allowances for nursing trainees.
“This Thursday, the Controller will transfer GH¢177 million to the Ministry of Health to pay the nursing trainee allowances. I have informed Dr. Okoe-Boye to be prepared to expedite the transfer to the trainees’ accounts once the funds are received by the Ministry of Health. The allowances will be disbursed promptly.”
