The Chairman of the government’s recently launched Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed that he faces daily threats from individuals opposed to the program.
Speaking on JoyNews on Monday, January 13, Ablakwa acknowledged the challenges but maintained his commitment to the initiative.
“Threats have become a daily feature, but we have tough skin, and we know the Good Lord will protect us,” he stated. He also decried attempts to undermine his credibility through propaganda and fake news but stressed, “We remain unaffected, resolute, and focused.”
Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) was established by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to investigate and recover state assets allegedly misappropriated by officials of the previous Akufo-Addo administration.
The initiative targets a range of assets, including state lands, vehicles, revenues, and questionable contract deals.
The ORAL team comprises notable figures, including:
- Former Auditor-General Daniel Domelovo
- Retired Commissioner of Police Nathaniel Kofi Boakye
- Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu
- Investigative journalist Raymond Archer
Ablakwa reported that the team has already received numerous suspected cases, all under investigation. Findings from these investigations will be submitted to the Attorney General for potential legal action and prosecution.
