I Made my First €1M at 21 Selling Scrap Metals – Cheddar

In a recent interview on Citi TV’s Point of View, Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, shared insights into his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting how he amassed his first one million pounds sterling at the age of 21. The financial milestone was achieved through a combination of ventures in telecommunications and a strategic involvement in the scrap business in the United Kingdom.

Cheddar, who established his own company, Global Telecommunications and Utilities (GT), emphasized the hunger for success that drove him at a young age. He disclosed that a portion of his initial million-pound earnings was invested in launching a nightclub in Ghana, a move that eventually yielded $75,000 after selling the establishment in 2002.

The entrepreneur spoke passionately about providing opportunities for the youth to participate in the country’s decision-making processes if elected into power in the upcoming 2024 polls. Cheddar expressed concern that, over the past four decades, the youth have not had a meaningful role in shaping the nation’s leadership. He pledged that the New Force stands for the empowerment of the youth, aiming to break the trend of using young individuals solely for votes in exchange for money.

Cheddar asserted, “We believe that in the past four decades, the youth should have the right to be a part of the decision – how and who is going to lead us and how they are supposed to lead us.” He criticized the lack of young candidates with the courage to step forward and unite the nation, stating, “In the past four decades, between NDC and NPP, there hasn’t been any young person who has stood up with the courage to say that I am coming in, and I am going to become the unifier.”
