Market Women at Agbogbloshie Declare Support for Ken Agyapong in NPP Flagbearer Race

In an exclusive interview with The Independent Ghana, the queen mother of the tomato sellers association at Agbogbloshie market, Doris Adjei, conveyed the strong backing of traders in the Agbogbloshie area for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race.

Doris Adjei expressed her firm belief that among the four candidates competing for the NPP’s flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong is the most qualified to lead the party to victory. She highlighted that Ghanaians should unite behind Agyapong as he possesses the necessary qualities to bring about positive transformation in Ghana.

Furthermore, she stressed that the power of the people lies in their ability to vote out leaders who fail to fulfill their promises, just as they have done with previous leaders who did not meet expectations.

“Let’s give Kennedy Agyapong a chance; if he doesn’t deliver on his promises, we can vote him out. I believe we should support Kennedy Agyapong because he has so much to offer Ghana. Voting is no longer solely about politics; it’s about selecting someone who can genuinely improve the state of Ghana,” she emphasized.

Another trader chimed in, emphasizing the importance of NPP members uniting to support Agyapong, highlighting his capability to provide relief to the people, unlike other candidates.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NPP in the Savannah Region, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, expressed confidence in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s popularity within the region. He predicted that Dr. Bawumia would receive overwhelming endorsement, with over 95% of the votes, in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.
