High Court Orders EC to Recollate Results for Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituencies

The High Court has instructed the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate and declare results for the Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituencies, following claims of irregularities in the collation and announcement of previous results.

Aggrieved parliamentary candidates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had petitioned the court, requesting fresh elections in these constituencies. They argued that the anomalies in the collation process had compromised the integrity of the declarations.

Presiding judge Joseph Adu Owusu Agyeman, in a ruling delivered on Friday, December 20, 2024, directed the EC to proceed with recollating the results for Ablekuma North. The judge overruled objections raised by legal representatives of both parties:

  • Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo, representing the NDC.
  • Gary Nimako, lead counsel for Frank Annoh-Dompreh of the NPP.

The court’s decision ensures a transparent resolution of the disputed outcomes, reinforcing trust in the electoral process.

Further developments are anticipated as the EC implements the directive.
