Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, July 15, Dr. Bernard Kofi Asamoah, a member of Agradaa’s legal team, confirmed the court’s decision. He explained that while the request for bail was denied, the court has directed the Circuit Court to submit all relevant documentation regarding the appeal.
“We wanted bail pending appeal, and the court did not grant it. The court has given an order that the Circuit Court furnish the court with all the processes needed for the appeal. We will continue the appeal process,” he stated.
Nana Agradaa is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence handed down by the Circuit Court on July 3. She was found guilty of defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement.
Her lawyers argue that the conviction was unjust and have filed an appeal seeking to overturn both the verdict and sentence. On July 7, lead counsel Richard Asare Baffour confirmed that a formal petition had been submitted to the High Court in pursuit of this goal.
