Hassan Ayariga, the Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), unveiled his manifesto on Sunday, September 22, 2024, promising significant economic reforms, including raising the minimum salary to GH¢5,000. During the launch of his manifesto, titled “Transforming Ghana and Restoring Hope,” at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Ayariga outlined key policies aimed at improving the standard of living for Ghanaians.
He pledged to introduce a bi-weekly salary payment system, ensuring that workers are paid every two weeks rather than monthly. Additionally, Ayariga plans to raise the current minimum wage from GH¢18 to between GH¢150 and GH¢300, stating that salaries in Ghana are insufficient to meet basic needs.
The APC also accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of stealing their “24 Hour Economy” policy, claiming it was an APC initiative originally proposed in 2016.
Furthermore, the APC criticized the government’s “Gold for Oil” program, labeling it a fraudulent scheme benefiting a few while leaving the general public to suffer from high fuel prices. Ayariga vowed to cancel the policy if elected in the December 2024 elections.
