The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that it will temporarily shut down the 161kV Akosombo–Nkawkaw transmission line from Sunday, October 5, to Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
According to GRIDCo, the shutdown is necessary to enable the relocation of two transmission towers along the Kumasi–Accra highway. The relocation exercise has become crucial to facilitate ongoing road expansion works being carried out by the Ghana Highway Authority.
The company assured electricity consumers that measures have been put in place to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the shutdown period. Additionally, engineers will remain on standby to address any unforeseen challenges.
GRIDCo apologised for any inconvenience the exercise may cause and reiterated its commitment to delivering reliable power transmission services across the country.
