The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has refuted claims that it has frozen the bank accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, founder of Bills Micro Credit Ltd.

This follows reports alleging that the GRA imposed a GH₵30 million personal income tax assessment on Mr. Quaye and subsequently froze his accounts as part of an enforcement action.

In a statement issued on March 27, the GRA clarified that while an income tax assessment has been issued against him, no enforcement actions—including freezing his accounts—have been taken.

“The Authority has issued an assessment on him relating to his income taxes, but no enforcement action has commenced,” the statement read.

The GRA urged the public to disregard social media reports suggesting otherwise, emphasizing that its tax assessment process follows due procedures. It also encouraged taxpayers to voluntarily declare their incomes to avoid penalties and legal consequences.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to fair tax administration and called for public cooperation in ensuring compliance.
