The Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Agyei, has announced that government has paid a total of GH¢809 million to the contractor working on the Pokuase–Nsawam Highway.
Mr. Agyei explained that the payments were made in three tranches on July 24, July 30, and August 4, 2025, fully covering the financial obligations for the project.
The confirmation comes as contractors return to site to continue repair works on the highway, which has caused heavy traffic congestion for weeks.
The development follows pressure from the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), which had threatened to suspend operations if the government failed to act by Wednesday, August 20.
The Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Sedem Afenyo, welcomed the resumption of work and expressed hope that construction will not be halted again.
