The government has announced the arrival of 100 new 29-seater buses as part of efforts to address recent public transport challenges across Ghana.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the buses are part of a larger procurement of 300 vehicles aimed at improving transport services and easing pressure on commuters nationwide.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, April 5, 2026, the minister stated that the first batch of 100 buses has already arrived in the country.

“In the meantime, 100 29-seater buses have arrived in the country to ease recent road transport challenges. They form part of 300 procured for the purpose. Another batch of 100 will arrive in August, with the last batch of 100 arriving in November,” he said.

The move follows recent vehicle shortages in several parts of the country, which left many commuters stranded at transport terminals and bus stops.

Government had earlier indicated that measures were being taken to resolve the situation, with Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang assuring the public that steps were underway to address the disruptions affecting daily commuters.
