Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government has approved an increase in the producer price of cocoa to GHS3,625 per bag, equivalent to GHS58,000 per tonne.
The adjustment represents a rise of about GHS400 per bag, a 12.27% increase over the price set in August 2025. The new price takes effect from Friday, October 3, 2025.
According to the Minister, margins, fees, and rates for other stakeholders in the cocoa value chain, including COCOBOD, remain unchanged.
COCOBOD is expected to maintain and expand interventions aimed at boosting cocoa production and improving the welfare of farmers. These include the free supply of fertilizers (both liquid and granular), insecticides, spraying machines, fungicides, and flower inducers.
Additionally, COCOBOD confirmed it is on track to roll out a new Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers, beginning in the 2026/27 academic year.
The announcement, made via a Facebook post by the Finance Minister, has been welcomed as a major boost to cocoa farmers across the country.
