The Upper East Region has discovered significant gold deposits in seven out of its 15 districts, marking a major development for the local economy.
This was disclosed by Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Akamugri Atanga during an interaction with journalists at the proposed Bolgatanga Airport site on Saturday, March 29.
The minister emphasized that constructing the Bolgatanga Airport would enhance the transportation of mined gold and other mineral resources, ensuring safer and faster movement across the country.
“This region, all of a sudden, we have discovered minerals around. Out of the 15 municipal district assemblies, we have about seven of them that have this deposit. And if they are having this deposit, it means that there’s business to do,” he stated.
He also called on stakeholders to support the establishment of the airport, highlighting its potential to boost economic activities and serve as a strategic link to Burkina Faso and Togo.
