GNFS Rescues Victims in Cape Coast Accident; One Confirmed Dead

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Rescue Team responded to a road accident in front of the NDC Regional Office on the Accra–Cape Coast Highway at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The crash involved a stationary Man Diesel truck (WR 1546-V) and a Mercedes Sprinter minibus (CR 623-25) heading towards Cape Coast. According to eyewitnesses, the Sprinter rammed into the parked truck while overtaking another vehicle.

Fire officers extricated three trapped passengers, with one victim confirmed dead on the scene. Eighteen others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were transported by the GNFS rescue team and the National Ambulance Service to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the Man Diesel truck had broken down prior to the incident. The accident left 20 victims in total, including one woman who lost her life.

GNFS rescued 20 victims in a road crash on the Accra–Cape Coast Highway. One woman died and 18 others were rushed to hospital after a Sprinter collided with a broken-down truck.
