Ghana’s U16 national football team, the Black Starlets, demonstrated their skill and determination on the field with a resounding 5-1 victory against Serbia in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament. The triumph came after a disappointing 3-1 loss to hosts Russia earlier in the tournament.
The match was a display of Ghana’s dominance, with the team taking control from the outset and scoring three goals in the first half.
Abdulai Nortey opened the scoring for Ghana in the 15th minute, setting the pace for his team.
Benjamin Hanson added to the lead with a confidently converted penalty just before halftime in the 44th minute. David Koranteng further extended Ghana’s advantage with a goal on the stroke of halftime.
In the second half, Ghana maintained their pressure, with Ebenezer Anane and Benjamin Tsevanyo both finding the back of the net, bringing the total to five goals. Despite a consolation goal from Serbia’s Stulic in the 68th minute, Ghana’s lead remained unassailable.
This victory serves as redemption for Ghana, who are aiming to prepare for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 Tournament in Accra next month.
With one more match against Kazakhstan on Sunday, the team remains focused on their goal of fine-tuning their skills and strategies for the competition.
