Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team has secured a spot at the Paris Olympic Games after a stellar performance in their heat at the ongoing qualifiers in Bahamas. The team, comprising Ibrahim Fuseini, Isaac Botsio, Benjamin Azamati, and JP Amoah, clocked an impressive time of 38.29 seconds, marking a season’s best for them.
The journey to qualification was not without its challenges, as the team had previously dropped the baton in the Men’s 4x100m relay in Bahamas, leading to automatic disqualification. However, they bounced back in style, winning their heat and booking their ticket to Paris.
In a post-race interview, the team expressed their joy at the win, with one member stating, “We are happy to get the win. Whatever happened yesterday, we’ve put it behind us to come out and execute the race.” The team’s victory also saw Nigeria securing a spot in Paris after finishing second in the heat.
South Africa also had reason to celebrate, as they won their heat and secured their place in the Paris Olympics.
