As the 2024 general election approaches, Ghanaian politics has taken an intriguing turn with the appearance of a billboard featuring a masked man accompanied by the phrase “Leadership for the next generation.” This enigmatic display suggests the imminent unveiling of a new presidential candidate, likely to contest as an independent in the upcoming election. Among the speculations circulating, one name has gained significant attention: Cheddar.
Cheddar, also known as Freedom Jacob Caesar or Cheddar Cheese, is none other than Ghanaian millionaire Nana Kwame Bediako. Renowned as the Founder and CEO of Wonda World Estates and Petronia City Development Company Ltd, Cheddar has established himself as a prominent figure in the real estate industry, earning accolades for his visionary projects.
His portfolio includes Kwarleyz, an upscale 43-apartment block located in the Airport Residential Area. Adding to Accra’s evolving skyline, Cheddar’s latest venture is a 16-floor mixed-use building, comprising retail and residential spaces, currently under development on Osu Oxford Street near Danquah Circle. The structure is designed by the renowned architect Branco Cavaleiro.
Notably, Cheddar is the mastermind behind the audacious Petronia City project, a self-sustaining, integrated city encompassing 2,000 acres of land near Takoradi. This visionary endeavor aims to serve Ghana’s burgeoning oil and gas industry, featuring an industrial hub, a golf course, several hotels, entertainment facilities, and expansive communal living spaces designed to accommodate over 30,000 residents.
With the emergence of Cheddar as a potential independent presidential candidate, the total number of contenders vying for the presidency outside of established political parties has risen to two, with Alan Kyeremanten already on that path. Furthermore, there is a growing speculation that Kennedy Agyapong might also consider running as an independent candidate if he fails to secure the nomination from the New Patriotic Party, potentially competing against Vice President Bawumia.
Amidst the anticipation surrounding the political landscape, rumors about an upcoming individual who could shake up Ghana’s presidency have gained momentum. One name that continues to circulate is Cheddar, the Ghanaian-born Prince of Africa. If the speculations hold true, Cheddar may soon embark on a journey towards assuming Ghana’s highest office.
As the nation eagerly awaits further developments, the entrance of a prominent figure like Cheddar into the political arena adds an intriguing dimension to the forthcoming elections, promising an exciting race for the presidency.
