The fashion world mourns the loss of Pokua Poku-Mouhtiseb, the talented fashion designer and creative force behind Poqua Poqu. She passed away on Wednesday, February 14, reportedly due to complications during childbirth, at Lister Hospital.
News of Pokua’s untimely death spread rapidly on social media, with many of her friends, including Afia Akoto from the New Patriotic Party, sharing heartfelt tributes in her honor.
Pokua is survived by her husband, Mr. Mouhtiseb, and their three children.
Poqua Poqu, the fashion label she founded in 2011, is known for its blend of affordable luxury and multifunctional apparel tailored for the modern, stylish woman. Over the years, the brand has attracted a high-profile clientele, including Anita Erskine, Eugenia Tachie-Menson, Ayesha Bedwei Ibe, Shirley Emma Tibilla, Claudia Lumor, Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE, and Menaye Donkor, among others.
Pokua’s educational journey took her from Martyrs of Uganda R/C JHS for primary school to Achimota School for her secondary education. She furthered her studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) before pursuing higher education at the University of Hull in England.
