Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been named in the Premier League Team of the Week following his outstanding performance in Leicester City’s thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton.
Issahaku, who came off the bench with Leicester trailing by two goals, played a pivotal role in the turnaround. He provided an assist for Facundo Buonanotte’s goal in the 64th minute, which sparked the Foxes’ resurgence.
The 20-year-old nearly scored himself, hitting the crossbar with a powerful shot just before Jamie Vardy equalized from the penalty spot. The match was ultimately decided in stoppage time by fellow Ghanaian Jordan Ayew, who netted the winning goal.
Issahaku’s 31-minute appearance was crucial, as he had the most touches in the opposition’s box and consistently threatened Southampton’s defense, driving momentum in Leicester’s favor.
The Ghana international will be hoping to retain his place in the squad when Leicester City hosts Nottingham Forest on Friday at the King Power Stadium.
