Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has projected that Ghana’s inflation rate will fall into single digits by the end of 2025 well ahead of the government’s official target.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News on Thursday, July 24, shortly after presenting the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament, Dr. Forson pointed to encouraging economic indicators as the basis for his optimism.

“I am of the firm belief that by the end of the year, we will be entering the single digit,” he stated.

According to him, Ghana’s current inflation rate stands at 13.7%, with producer price inflation declining from over 10% to 5.9% in the previous month. “Based on that, I expect that next month inflation will go down, and if it does, then I believe that by December, we should be able to achieve that,” he explained.

Although the government maintains an official year-end inflation target of 11.9%, Dr. Forson expressed confidence that the figure could be reached even earlier.
