In an official announcement, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the receipt of GH¢2.5 million from Nana Appiah Mensah, the former CEO of Menzgold, and the subsequent deposit of this sum into the Bank of Ghana.
According to a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Police Service clarified that these funds were received “on the advice of the Office of the Attorney-General” on Friday, October 20, 2023.
The Police Service further disclosed that the received amount has been securely placed in the Police Exhibit account at the Bank of Ghana (BoG), earmarked for the court’s attention. This development is linked to the ongoing investigations stemming from petitions filed by customers of MenzGold Ghana Company Limited and Brew Marketing Consult Limited. These petitions, currently before the Accra High Court, have been lodged against the accused party, Nana Appiah Mensah, commonly known as NAM 1.
It is essential to underline that any determinations regarding the disbursement of these funds will be made by the court. Menzgold conveyed this significant amount to the Ghana Police Service with the explicit purpose of facilitating payments to customers who have adhered to the stipulated protocols and validation procedures. This transaction took place on Friday, October 20, 2023.
The confirmation of the deposit marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Menzgold and NAM 1, as the funds now rest under the auspices of the Bank of Ghana.
